The exhibition 'Transplants' explores the act of moving a living thing from one place to another, whether a human being, a culture, an internal organ, or a botanical specimen. In each instance, the transplants undergo both a physical migration and transformation of identity as they adapt to their new surroundings. The hope is they grow new roots and thrive, but there is also potential peril if the new environment proves inhospitable.
NYC-based artists working in any medium may submit work that speaks in obvious or subtle ways to the theme of 'Transplants' — painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital, performance, installation, all formats will be considered ...
Please only submit 1-2 works. Only the first 2 works you submit will be reviewed.
Submission deadline: June 1. Artists will be notified of jury selections by June 16. There is no application fee.
'Transplants' will be on view from July 14 - 29, 2023.
Artists selected will be required to sign up for a shift to gallery sit to cover the weekend hours during the show.
Works for sale must be limited to $500 or less.
