• Mj Nicole Tattoos | Aftercare

    • Because our skin types differ, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to aftercare.
    • Once a scab has formed and your tattoo has started to dry, please apply a lotion that is best suited to your skin type (not an ointment).
    • Avoid using lotions that are heavy or are oil-based.
    • Use only a small, appropriate amount of lotion and make sure your hands are clean before applying.
    • Your tattoo is a wound, and for wounds to heal properly, oxygen is necessary. Avoid wrapping it because you want it to breathe!
    • The amount of times you should wash or moisturize your tattoo is not exact. I kindly ask that you use your logic abilities to determine when it would be appropriate to do so. (tip: if it is dirty, give it a wash; if it is dry, then lotion up.)
    • Be wary of friction and pressure on your new tattoo.
    • You do not have to keep your tattoo out of the shower; simply ensure that the water pressure doesn't directly contact it.
    • When outdoors, if it is too early to apply sunscreen, keep it covered and away from direct sunlight.
    • NO picking or scratching!
    • Do NOT exercise or sweat excessively on the tattoo until it has healed (about 1-2 weeks).
    • Do NOT go into any pool, hot tub, or ocean.
    • Do NOT do anything to your tattoo (it's only a pretty wound after all) that you wouldn't do to any other wound you've ever had.
    • Aftercare does not end when your wound/tattoo has healed; take care of your skin.
