My child is new to the preschool setting but is able to follow directions and sit and attend to an adult led activity for at least 5 minutes. I am expecting them to learn entry level preschool skills such as the alphabet, counting to 10, basic shapes and social skills.
My child has already knows some basic preschool skills (recites alphabet, counts to 10, knows some colors/shapes) and is able to sit and actively attend to an adult led activity for 10 minutes without becoming easily distracted. I am expecting them to learn phonics and beginning writing skills, counting to 20+, simple math and a better understanding of the emotions of themselves and peers. They are independent in tasks and do not need one on one adult support to participate and complete familiar tasks.
My child has mastered the majority of preschool skills and is ready for something more advanced. I would like them to learn pre-reading and beginner reading skills, handwriting, more in depth math and science concepts such as cause and effect, predictions, and designing their own experiments to find answers to their questions. Students at this level should already be able to name and identify all letters and sounds of the alphabet, rote count to 20+ as well as 1-1 correspondence and be able to sit and attend to an activity both adult led and independent for 15 minutes. The full week program is highly recommended for this class as lessons build one day to the next and is a faster pace.
