Thank you for your interest in mentoring! We are excited to begin Cohort IV 2023-2024 and look forward to a great year of learning. Our vision is to promote positive outcomes for Indiana’s children and youth with disabilities by assisting in the identification, preparation and succession planning of underrepresented (i.e. disability, gender, and race) special education potential leaders for future administrative positions in special education.
We are looking for 20 mentors who:
A. want to be make a positive impact
B. are willing to learn and practice what they learn
C. have time and desire to mentor
D. hold a current Indiana Special Education Director license
E. are current members of ICASE
F. are willing to present to the group at the assigned meeting so others can learn about the role of a director of special education
G. attend monthly one-day virtual Institutes 8:30 - 3:30 Eastern / 7:30 - 2:30 Central
H. will host the cohort member through job shadowing
I. will read assigned readings (monthly)
J. work with the cohort member to create a professional log
K. attend the spring and fall ICASE conferences and participate in mentoring activities
L. are willing to set up a job shadowing experience with the assigned cohort member
The 20 mentors will be given:
*Education on how to be a change agent in diversity, equity and inclusion
*A stipend
*An opportunity to meet aspiring leaders
*A unique experience in the field of Special Education leadership
*A topic to present to the group
*An opportunity to be a leader in special education at the state level
*Networking opportunities
Attendance is mandatory. We will meet 10 times through the year on the second Wednesday of each month:
