The goal of the Nouveau Program is to support increased participation in classical music by African American and Latine student musicians by providing equitable opportunities for music study and performance. Applicants must have studied their instrument privately for at least 1 year prior to joining the Nouveau Program.
The program has two tracks:
- The NOUVEAU PROGRAM consists of weekly chamber coachings and performances throughout the season.
- The NOUVEAU FELLOWSHIP consists of a comprehensive training experience for students who are pursuing a career in music. This is a multi-year program for students who play an orchestra instrument and is open to students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in orchestras. Theory training, private lessons and additional workshop opportunities are provided for Nouveau Fellows.
To apply for either track:
- Complete this application form
- Submit a performance tape
- Audio files can be attached to this application
- YouTube links can also be provided on this form
If you are applying for the Nouveau Fellowship, please make sure to complete all information and submit a letter of reference from your school music educator.
An application will not be considered complete until all required materials have been received.
