    Voir Dire Techniques

    Program:

    The 2023 DAYL Trial Skills Boot Camp will begin with a lunch and an expert panel discussion on voir dire tactics and juror psychology featuring Judge Monica Purdy, Victor Vital, Julie Pettit, Rob Crain, and Kellye Raymond. 

    Following the panel discussion, participants will break into small groups and have a unique opportunity to apply the learned voir dire tactics and juror psychology on a small venire panel of actual prospective jurors. Each participant will then pick a jury based on the panelists’ answers. Experienced attorneys and judges will observe the voir dire to provide valuable feedback to each participant.

    Other participating judges include Judge Tina Clinton, Judge Maria Aceves, Judge Nicole Taylor, Judge Martin Hoffman, Judge Dale Tillery, and Judge Veretta Frazier.

     

    This program is pending approval for 3.50 hours of CLE credit.

    The mock voir dire presentations will begin at 1:30pm
    A post-event awards ceremony will begin at 3:30pm.

    There is no charge for DAYL members or Dallas Bar Association Trial Skills Section members to attend. If you are not a DAYL member or a DBA Trial Skills Section member, 
    please contact Cherie Harris.

  • Experiential Learning Opportunity

    This program includes participation in a voir dire exercise requiring you to prepare ahead time based on the hypothetical, present on the day of the event, and receive valuable feedback from experienced attorneys and judges who are participating.

    To maximize the level of experiential learning at this event, attendees are highly encouraged to participate in this exercise. If you wish to opt out of participating in the voir exercise, check the box below.

    Participation in this exercise is very limited and once full, a wait list will be created. We will notify you if you have been added to the wait list.
