In our one-on-one session with the student, we focused on key resume building attributes and discussed specific careers. We identified preferred school subjects and areas on interest and considered how these could influence future career choices. We considered ideal work environments and established long-term career goals, discussing what a typical workday might involve. We surveyed local job opportunities and community-based options. We briefly discussed starting salaries and avenues for growth in their industries of interest. We reviewed various training opportunities and enrolled in Career Launchpad workplace readiness training programs, setting the wheels in motion to commence these courses within the next four weeks. These programs include developing a resume and portfolio, exploring industries to find the students best fit and soft skills development for the workplace.
