2 Scholarships of $1,500 will be awarded
Brian Betts of Flesherton Ontario was an accomplished dairy producer and exceptional leader in Agriculture both locally and nationally. Brian’s leadership helped drive producer run organizations to collaborate more fully and reduce duplication. This led to greater efficiency which in turn ensures greater sustainability for the producer owned companies. Initiatives to develop rural youth and support for 4H were always prioritized under Brian’s leadership. Brian’s selfless service to the community and compassion for people had a very positive impact on many individuals. This scholarship will be awarded to individuals that best display leadership and selfless service for the betterment of their community.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicant is affiliated with a licensed milk producer (son, daughter, employee).

2. Applicants must have successfully completed year one, two or three of post secondary education and be enrolled for the following year.

3. Ontario Applicants are eligible for the Brian Betts Scholarship and the Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund Scholarship.

4. Atlantic Canada Applicants (EastGen Service Area -- NB, NS, PEI, NL) are eligible for the Brian Betts Scholarship only.

5. Manitoba Applicants (Gaylea Service Area) are eligible for the Brian Betts Scholarship only.

6. Two scholarships of $1,500 will be awarded annually.

7. No applicant is eligible for a second scholarship. Unsuccessful applicants may reapply.

8. Applications may be in essay or point form. Please be specific with your answers.

9. Application deadline is June 15th

Awarding of the Scholarships

The selection committee will be considering education, farm or agricultural background, involvement in community or university/college, leadership, personal development and goals.

Arrangements will be made with the successful applicants for a presentation of the Scholarship.
