Survey Overview
Pursuant to Indiana Code (IC) 20-20-5.5-2(h), the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) shall conduct a statewide survey to determine which curricular materials have been adopted for use in teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in each state accredited school. Each state accredited school shall: (1) participate in the statewide survey conducted under this subsection; and (2) provide the information requested by the department as part of the statewide survey; in the manner prescribed by the department.
A designee from each public school corporation, public charter school, and state accredited non-public school should complete this survey no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 16. If a school corporation maintains consistent curriculum adoption across grade levels and schools within the corporation, then only a single submission for the corporation is required. Note that the results of this survey will be used for informational purposes only, and any response will not be punitive in nature. Please contact IDOE’s Office of Teaching and Learning with any questions.
This survey requests information related to curriculum selections for discrete STEM disciplines as well as in support of integrated STEM education. For the purposes of this survey, integrated STEM education is the purposeful integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through an engaging and motivating, student-centered pedagogy and curriculum. In integrated STEM learning experiences, students are engaged in solving real-world problems using inquiry-based learning, problem-based learning, and engineering design practices, which require critical thinking and collaboration.
