At the end of intensive practice retreats and programs, it is traditional to make a monetary offering, called a Heart Gift, to the lead teachers. Sometimes people feel inspired to give a heart gift to the assistant directors and coordinators as well. It is up to you. Fundamentally this is an expression of your heartfelt appreciation for all that has gone into the teachings you have received.
The Heart Gift is not a requirement. Rather it is based entirely on your connection to the teacher and their teachings and what you are financially able to do. It is the gesture of offering and appreciating that is important, not the dollar amount. These gifts support the teacher, allowing them to further study and teach others. You are very much supporting what is important and valuable to you through your gift.
