Volunteers play a crucial role in the success and delivery of the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) each year. We are seeking individuals who wish to join us in celebrating Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and culture and are eager to be involved in a large-scale event or festival/festival to enrich the experience of CIAF audiences.
CIAF volunteers include both skilled individuals who want experience to put on their resume, or a love of learning in the following areas:
CIAF GENERAL
· Handing out programs to visitors
· Counting people at entry points to ascertain numbers
· Assisting in keeping the site clean and tidy
· Assisting with moving chairs & setting up areas as required
· General customer service duties
· Assisting at artist workshops
· Assist with survey data collection
· Assist with ushering at various venues
· Assisting the stage manager
· Assist with public programming workshops and activities, e.g. artist workshops, and masterclasses
SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Children's Program Assistant: volunteer assistants will be working under the management of a Children's Program leader (please note these positions require you to have experience working or supporting children, i.e. parent, grandparent, teacher, childcare educator, etc).
Elders Lounge Assistant: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander volunteers are needed to tend to the comfort of Elders by ensuring the space remains welcoming, including making tea and coffee.
CIAF FASHION EVENT
· Assisting in keeping the site clean and tidy
· Assisting with moving chairs/setting up areas as required
· Assist "Back of House" dressers, e.g. assist model,s etc
