INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION 

***Due to school closures from the Coronavirus, we understand it may be difficult to obtain official transcripts and letters of recommendation. Please provide what you can, and if more information is needed the committee will contact you. 

Requirements 

The initial applicant must: 

1. Be an active member, an active participant in the ministries at Downs, or the family member of an active member at Downs 
2. Be a graduating High School Senior 
3. Be a full-time or part-time student entering
   1. A community college
   2. Accredited Vocational/Technical Institution
   3. A four-year college or university 
4. Provide official confirmation of registration and enrollment before an award check is issued in the fall 

At the time of the initial application: 

1. Provide two letters of recommendation, one from a church member and one from a school administrator, principal, counselor, advisor, teacher or faculty member. 
2. Submit an essay no less than one page about yourself, your plans for the future and what you hope to contribute to your community, and your participation/involvement in Downs Ministries 
3. Submit your most recent official High School Transcript. 

***For returning/continuing applicants: 

1. Be a full-time or part-time student at a college or university or vocational/technical institution; 
2. Submit an essay no less than one page providing an update of your academic progress in college, and your (or your family’s) participation in Downs Ministries; 
3. Submit a copy of your most recent college/university/vocational school transcript.

• Please answer completely every question on the application form that applies to you, including pages 4-7
• Applications must be submitted to the website below no later than Thursday, June 22, 2023.
