How would you describe your playing level?
*
Novice - still developing shot control and accuracy, but can serve, rally and keep score. A 2.5 in USTA rating terms.
Low Intermediate - improving shot control and accuracy and can sustain short rallies but still fairly inconsistent. A 3.0 in USTA rating terms.
Intermediate - dependable shot control and accuracy but sometimes struggles with pace or hitting winners with volleys, lobs, drop shots or serves. This is the level of most former high school players, a 3.5 or low 4.0 in USTA ratings.
High Intermediate - strong shot control and accuracy, much more reliable shot variety (lobs, drop shots, etc.), comfortable at the net and can hit winners. This is the level of most former college club or varsity players, a high 4.0 or 4.5 in USTA rating terms.
Advanced - very strong shot control, pace, accuracy and variety. Can develop a game plan to compete with any opponent and consistently hit winners. This would be a high-level former college club or varsity player, a high 4.5 to 5.0 in USTA rating terms.
If you selected Novice above, please remember this is a tennis league and you must be ready for matches including knowing the rules of tennis, where to stand, how to keep score, how to serve, etc. We are happy to help you find a beginner class with instruction if you are not ready to play matches.
*
I know all the rules of tennis and am ready for matches.
I realized that I am not ready for a league with matches and need some instruction first. Please email me to help me do that first.
If you registered for our Brighton league, do you prefer singles or doubles? (Please note: if you select singles, for example, you are not guaranteed to play singles every week.)
