Parent Ambassadors are passionate about our school’s purpose and are dedicated to improving the quality of the NCS experience for students and their families.
There will be one Parent Ambassador appointed for each Year Group, every 12 month period. Parent ambassadors may re-apply at the end of each 12 month period.
What will a Parent/Carer Ambassador do?
- Welcome and connect new families into the NCS community
- Monitor and administer the Year Facebook Group
- Interact with other NCS parents and families through a variety of methods (in person, via phone, email, and social media) to establish and build relationships.
- Share helpful information with families of NCS students who may have questions or need advice about being a parent at our school.
- Encourage other families to support and attend school events
- Attend NCS Community Connect events, such as the Coffee & Chat mornings
- Post helpful reminders to Year Group Facebook page about events or other important information
- Encourage and/or facilitate social connection within the parent/carer body eg. organise social get-togethers
- Meet with the Principal, Community Relations Manager and other Parent Ambassadors once or twice a term as part of NCS Community Connect.
- Attend key school events
- Support Class Teachers to find volunteers for jobs which may need completing
- Organise pastoral care for families in need in consultation with the family and the school
- Champion NCS in your community! Tell positive stories about the school to others.
- Serve a one-year term.
- Attend training on how to be an effective parent/carer ambassador
What qualities and gifts should a parent/carer ambassador possess?
- Willingness to serve our school community as a volunteer
- Be well-connected within the NCS community
- Have a desire and ability to cultivate family connections within the NCS community
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Have the ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to others’ needs and situations
- Have the ability to maintain positive perspectives about the school and a willingness to work through issues in a respectful manner
- Be an existing member of the NCS community for at least one year
