60 years ago, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference solidified itself as a leader in civil rights with its presence and participation in the historic March on Washington. This seminal moment enshrined the Southern Christian Leadership Conference as a leader in the civil rights space and a definitive voice for black and disenfranchised communities across the country. In the years since, the SCLC has both maintained its mantle as the voice of the voiceless and expanded its reach to become a global power in the ongoing fight for justice and fairness for all!
The ‘I Have a Dream Speech” is a moment in our organization’s legacy that defines the motivation and sincerity of Dr. King’s vision to make America better through love and nonviolence. It should be noted that our schedule of events has been adjusted to allow our members and stakeholders to fully participate in the commemoration activities.
