DEFINITIONS: Canoeing and Kayaking includes Olympic Sprint, Voyageur, Dragon Boat, Outrigger, lake water practice, and volunteer, member and client activities associated with trips, courses, events, training sessions, facility use and the travel and training involved.
In consideration of the Calgary Canoe Club accepting my/our individual/family membership, and/or program registration I AGREE TO THIS RELEASE OF CLAIMS AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY in respect to Alberta Sprint racing Canoe Association, its officers, employees, coaches, agents, volunteers, members or representatives.
I understand that canoeing of lakes, reservoirs and rivers involves certain dangers, not all of which can be listed here. Among the more obvious and frequent are:
1. Exposure to variable extremes in weather that may cause injury due to heat or cold, and which may force change of route and itinerary changes. 2. Contact with and possible immersion in cold water for undetermined periods, leading to hypothermia and possible suffocation. 3. Exposure to capsize, trees, rocks, rope entanglement, current weather patterns and other possible sources of “in water” injury and entrapment. 4. Unfamiliar terrain and routes where paddlers could become separated from the party. 5. Travel in remote locations with poor communications and inability to get rescue or medical assistance easily or quickly.
