    City of Tukwila Banner Project, Artist Entry Form
  • Tukwila Parks and Recreation is thrilled to present “Summers in Tukwila” Tukwila’s Street Banner Project, an opportunity to raise awareness of Tukwila’s diverse population, landscape and history while showcasing young artists from Foster High School. 

     

    Purpose: 
    To celebrate the summer by adding vibrancy and color to twelve intersections on Tukwila’s International Boulevard and raising young artists up in the community.  

     

    Theme:  
    “Summers in Tukwila” Banners will celebrate the beautiful people, community, history, landscape and artistic talents in Tukwila. 

     

    Prize: 
    Each awarded artist will receive a $200 Visa gift card and will have their design printed on a banner and hung at an intersection on Tukwila's International Boulevard through July - mid-October.  Gift Cards will be given out once Artwork is installed, all gift cards will be picked up by the artist at the Tukwila Community Center.

     

    Banner Project Timeline: 
    Project Open for Submissions – May 11th- 24th  
    Committee Review Submissions – May 25th-31st  
    Prepare Artwork for printing –June 1st- June 7th  
    Printing of Banners – June 8th- 30th  
    Hanging of Banners –July 3rd  

    General Submission Guidelines: 
    The Banner Review Committee reserves the right to determine whether a banner design is eligible for acceptance and placement on a city street pole banner under these guidelines. 

    • Ideas could include representation of Tukwila's areas, such as its natural beauty, wildlife, the mighty Duwamish River, culture, community, and heritage, to provide positive, welcoming visuals. 
    • You may submit one entry per person. 
    • All submissions must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages and must not contain any words or objectionable imagery. 
    • The banner concept must be original and one-of-a-kind. 
    • Banner art submissions shall not be used for commercial advertising or display of personal messages, or used to promote political or religious organizations or issues or viewpoints. Business names, logos, branded tags, acronyms, or trademarks are prohibited. 
    • Think big, bold, bright, and understandable, will be seen by people driving cars. 
    • All design entries must be vertically oriented, as banners will be hung vertically, 24 " wide X 36" long.
    • If your design is selected, you must submit original artwork. 
    • Should be large enough to cover the entire surface area inside the top and bottom rod sleeves. 
    • Artists must be residents of Tukwila.

  • Submitting Artwork:

    Original Artwork may be requested to get a high-resolution scan.  For the application, we do not need a high-resolution scan for the review process. Do not leave original artwork at the community center.
