At APAP, we work hard to fulfill our mission, vision and values while responding to the challenges that performing arts professionals face to best serve our members and the field.
One of the ways APAP ensures we can meet the moment is through the leadership of its board of directors. APAP has up to 7 potential open board seats to serve a three-year board term, commencing January 2024.
All expertise and perspectives are valued on the Board of Directors. APAP engages an active and dedicated board that is a comprehensive illustration of its membership and field. Board members provide guidance and support ensuring organizational stability and success. Annually, APAP solicits nominations for board membership. Below, in non-ranking, alphabetical order are areas of attention for the current nominations cycle:
- Ability and enthusiasm to assist APAP in active philanthropy and sponsorship development, including innovative fundraisers, philanthropists, personal generosity, and creative business development professionals.
- Diverse performing arts field representation consistent with the membership of APAP (Artists, Agents, Managers, Producers, Presenters, and other arts professionals) -- in the upcoming Board cycle, we especially welcome nominees representing Agents, Small and Mid-Sized Presenters, Artists, Arts Funders, and University Presenters.
- Experience and success in technology and/or data-sourcing/research in the performing arts field.
- Multigenerational representation of leadership in the performing arts field.
- Proven understanding, training, and action in support of APAP’s commitment to Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI).
- We are actively seeking representation from Indigenous, transgender, disabled, AAPI, and latine arts professionals.
- Wide-ranging geographic representation, with geographic emphasis on Canada, International, Midwest US, Mid-Atlantic/Southeast US, Southwest US, and New England.
A nomination does not guarantee an invitation to join the board, as all nominees go through a comprehensive review process led by our Nominations Task Force. Recommendations are then reviewed by APAP's Governance Committee, with final approval by the Board of Directors. Nominees from previous years that have not yet served on the APAP Board can be re-nominated.
