LGBTQ+ Art Show: Looking Back, Moving Forward
  • This Agreement is entered between Women's Cancer Resource Center ("WCRC") and the person noted below ("artist").

WCRC is requesting submissions of hangable visual art ("artwork") for inclusion in our LGBTQ+ art show Looking Back, Moving Forward. Our exhibit will run from June 28th to August 31st, 2023, both in our JanRae Community Art Gallery at our offices located at 2908 Ellsworth Street, Berkeley, CA 94705, and on our website in a virtual gallery. Submissions will only be accepted via this form.

Artists may submit up to five pieces for consideration for inclusion on our exhibit. All artworks submitted must be accompanied by a high-resolution digital image of the artwork. If your piece is not selected for inclusion in the JanRae Community Art Gallery, WCRC will make every effort to include it in our virtual gallery. The image submitted via this form will be the image included in our virtual gallery.

Pieces selected for inclusion in our exhibit may be sold by the artist, and a portion of the proceeds may be donated to WCRC. Any sales will be negotiated directly between the artist and purchaser.

Display, Handling, Presentation (including Virtual Presentation), & Release of Entries

    1. WCRC reserves the right to refuse any entry or refuse to display any entry considered not to be in the best interest of WCRC, Horizons Foundation, or our clients. No entry will be accepted where an exhibitor prescribes conditions under which they will exhibit. Once submitted, all entries are under the direct control of WCRC and may not be removed until the specified release day.
    2. Greatest care will be exercised in handling exhibits, but WCRC and Horizons Foundation will not be held liable for loss, theft, or damage of any kind from any cause. Submission of any work constitutes an agreement to this effect.
    3. Right to Reproduce: The right to reproduce images of any work accepted by the judges is assumed by WCRC. This use would be ONLY for publicity and promotion of Give Out Day 2023.
    4. Digital submissions will be shared in our virtual gallery only for the length of our Give Out Day 2023 exhibit (ending August 31, 2023).
    5. WCRC assumes total design control over the presentation of the exhibit.
    6. Upon submitting an entry for physical display at WCRC, the exhibitor agrees to pick up the entry on the posted release date. Failure to pick up the entry may affect selection for display at future WCRC art exhibits.
    7. Any unclaimed artwork will be held at WCRC until September 8th. After that point, they will be discarded.

    Tips & Instructions for Entry:

    1. You will need a digital photo of your art piece in order to enter your submission.
    2. Digital Image Size: The ideal resolution in pixels is 800x800 (length x width). Images that are larger than this need to be resampled (resized) to that size while still maintaining the original aspect ratio. Exhibitors may choose to upload images that do not match the “ideal size”.
    3. Title: Use a short title. Titles may be abbreviated to accommodate the label space. If you do not wish to title your piece, you will need to enter “Untitled”. If you have more than one “untitled”, put a number after the word. For example, “Untitled 1”, “Untitled 2”, etc. Adding one descriptive word (such as tree, owl, lake, etc.) helps track the art piece. Please choose your title carefully. Titles cannot be changed after the entry deadline has passed and will be displayed as entered on the exhibit tag and in our virtual gallery.
    4. Sales Price: If art is for sale, include price or indicate “NFS” if not for sale. We do not have POR (Price on Request) or B/O (Best Offer) as an option. Please be sure to choose a price that you will be happy with if it sells.

  • Sales:

    1. All sales originating at WCRC must be completed in their entirety before the conclusion of the exhibit (August 31st, 2023). There are no exceptions to this rule.
    2. The artist shall consign original works of art ("artwork") to WCRC.
    3. All artwork shall remain the property of the artist until it is sold by the artist.
    4. No artwork that has been sold by the artist or their representative shall be removed from the art show until the end date of the art show of August 31st, 2023.
    5. Any sale of artwork will be negotiated directly between the artist and purchaser. At the artists's discretion, the artist may choose to make a tax-deductible donation to WCRC.
    6. WCRC shall release artwork to the artist or their representative beginning on August 31st, 2023. The artist is responsible for delivery of artwork to the buyer. Should the buyer choose to retrieve the artwork directly from WCRC, they may coordinate with WCRC with confirmation of purchase by the artist using a form supplied by WCRC.
    7. Only written modifications to this agreement signed by all parties (artist, WCRC) shall be valid.
