Joan Stevens, aka Mamabotanica, has an M.S. in Botany with an emphasis in plant chemistry and ethnobotany. As part of her explorations she has ingested a variety of awareness expanding plant compounds. She is a professor at Pasadena City College, a backyard flower farmer, and a permaculture instructor. Studying botany opened her eyes to a whole new way of looking at the world. Permaculture provided practical skills to apply that new understanding and flower farming has shown her how local businesses help build community. She believes wholeheartedly that partnering with plants makes the world a better place and helps to make a future we can look forward to.
