Throughout this survey, when referring to ‘explicit anti-racist’ commitments or language, we are talking about naming race and racism directly, and using the precise language of ‘anti-racism’ or ‘anti-racist’, or specific experiences of Indigenous, Black and/or other communities who have been disadvantaged due to race, in your work. This is in contrast, or in addition, to more general language of diversity, inclusion, anti-oppression, rights-based approaches, etc., that your organization may use. In these cases, anti-racism may be considered to be a part of this work but is not being singled out by name.
While this language is important, we are focusing specifically on anti-racist language in this survey. We recognize that this language might not be used by all your partners. If you have questions about this while completing the survey, please contact arc@cooperation.ca and we would be happy to help clarify.
