Lesson 4
Slow Flight and Stalls
Objective:
To improve the student’s proficiency in the performance of the four fundamentals of flight and to introduce maneuvering during slow flight, stalls, and spin awareness.
Completion Standards:
The lesson will have been successfully completed when the student displays proficiency in the four fundamentals of flight by maintaining altitude, airspeed, and heading. During this and subsequent flight lessons, the student will be proficient in preflight, engine starting, taxiing, before takeoff checklist, and the post-flight procedures without instructor assistance. The student will perform normal and crosswind takeoffs without instructor assistance. The student will show an increase in proficiency in traffic pattern and approaches with the instructor shadowing and instructing for the landings. Finally, the student will display an understanding of maneuvering during slow flight, power off stall, and power on stalls.
