The Canons of The Episcopal Church (Deacons, Canon III.7.5/Priests, Canon III.9.1) require that clergy in all orders engage in annual continuing education, and that the Bishop keep a record of such ongoing training. The expectation is that priests will complete a minimum of 40 hours/year of ongoing education, especially if you are a full-time cleric in the diocese, and that Deacons will complete 20 hours annually.
These reports are due by the end of the liturgical year (for 2024, this is December 2, 2024 - because, Sunday!).
You may complete the form at any time during the year.
In addition to Continuing Education, you are required to complete Safe Church training every three years and Anti-Racism Training every five years. Please indicate below when you most recently completed and certified these requirements.
Please note: California law requires all employer with five or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training every two years. This mandatory training for supervisors (2 hours) and nonsupervisory employees (1 hour) must also take place within six months of hire or promotion and every two years thereafter. (Taking these individual learner courses in a group setting will not satisfy the requirements.)
