2023 Parade Rules

All participants must abide by the City of San Diego’s Parade and Float Requirements, including the requirement to have appropriate fire extinguisher(s). If you are required to have a fire extinguisher, make sure it has not expired!

For safety and litter prevention, nothing may be handed out or thrown from any float or parade entry (such as candy, promotional flyers, etc.)

Participants are responsible for cleaning up their own litter, including any animal droppings.

There is only ONE official Santa Claus in the event. This official Santa is designated by the event organizers. No other Santa Claus outfits or costumes are PERMITTED in the parade. Santa hats are acceptable.

The La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival Foundation retain the right to refuse participation by any entry that fails to comply with the any of the above rules at all times. Failure to adhere to any of the rules or other directions made by parade officials during the event will put the parade and the community at risk.

Attendees must stay inside their assigned display space unless they are moving to or from the entrance, exit, or restroom.

I further agree to accept and make our best efforts to comply with any changes that are made before and during the event. If loss or damage occurs to any vehicle, animal, article, or persons that I enter into the event, I will make no claim against the City of San Diego, the State of California, the La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival Foundation, and/or the La Jolla Christmas Parade Committee members, or any other persons associated with the organization and conduct of the event, and I will not initiate or support legal proceedings associated with any personal injury arising, occasioned by, or caused by any employee, representative or participant in my organization’s entry. I further understand our entry is subject to the denial of the right to participate if my organization fails to comply with any of these rules or directions.
