  • At UURISE, we recognize that people come to us at all different stages of their life and with a variety of immigration statuses, often even within the same family. We also know that it can be confusing and intimidating to know what services and programs you are eligible for and that you can access without risk to your immigration status. 


    To address this, our team has worked to add more intentional resource coordination. With our CARE screening, we build on the strengths of resource and referral programs like 2-1-1 by helping individuals narrow down referrals to specific programs that are available to them regardless of their immigration status. The CARE screening will help us identify your current needs and how best to navigate meeting them, by:  

    • Connections / Conexiones 
      • To organizations, providers or programs that can help you meet your needs (housing, mental, health, etc.).
    • Advocacy / Apoyo
      • With you or on your behalf with a third party (school, governmental agency, etc.).
    • Resource Navigation / Navegación de Recursos
      • Referrals to resources you can access regardless of your immigration status (food distribution, affordable health care, low-income assistance programs, etc.). 
    • Emergency Safety Planning for Immigrants (ESPI) & Education / Planificación de Seguridad de Emergencia para Inmigrantes (ESPI) & Educación
      • So that you are empowered with information about your rights, how to determine what services are available to you, and how to create a plan to prepare yourself and your family in the event of an emergency.

  • Emergency Safety Planning for Immigrants (ESPI)

    Emergency Safety Planning for Immigrants (ESPI) is a free service that guides you through creating a plan and legal documents that can help you avoid catastrophic loss in the event of an emergency. Our trained Safety Plan Specialists work one-on-one with you to assess your needs and gather information you may need to access quickly in the event of an emergency. Although detentions can’t be prevented, and deportations can rarely be stopped, an ESPI is an important tool to ensure that your plan for dealing with an emergency is followed. 


    The ESPI program consists of a four-part process:

    1. Assessment: Identify your needs, priorities, and wishes. 
    2. Create Your Plan: Gather your important information and documents. Identify who will deal with the different aspects of your life.  
    3. Powers of Attorney: Legal documents that give a person you designate the legal authority to represent and enact your wishes.
    4. Resources: Referrals and connections to resources available regardless of immigration status.

  • The following information is collected from all of our clients to help us and our funders better understand who we serve and how we can best provide services. Your answers to these questions do not impact your ability to receive services. The answers to these questions are combined before they are shared with our funders. We do not share any identifying information about you.
