  • Patient Transport Driver

    We are always looking for Patient Transport Drivers to assist us, our volunteer drivers provide transport for patients to, and from, their oncology/renal unit at the Areas’ agreed hospital(s) - sometimes in their own vehicles and sometimes in St John Scotland vehicles.     Before we allow volunteer drivers to use their own car for Patient Transport purposes, we carry out checks to make sure it is roadworthy, clean, kept in good condition and suitable for patients.

  • Patient Transport Coordinator

    As a volunteer Patient Transport Coordinator your role will include overseeing, and managing, the volunteer team who provide transport for patients to, and from, their oncology/renal unit at the Areas’ agreed hospital(s).

    All patient transport drivers are expected to undergo a driving assessment.

  • Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) Volunteer

    Our volunteers work with local communities throughout the country to support the installation of Public Access Defibrillators (PADs). Our PAD volunteers supports the PAD Lead(s).     Our volunteers work with local communities throughout the country to support the installation of Public Access Defibrillators (PADs). Our PAD Lead(s) assess applications, offer guidance on site placement and installation of PADs to support and advise community groups across your local area.

  • Criminal Convictions Self Declaration

    We ask all volunteers to give us information any of previous convictions. Having a previous conviction does not automatically bar you from volunteering with us. This information will be discussed with you, to determine the suitability of your application to volunteer with SJS. Some volunteering roles are classed as regulated work, and we are required to carry out a PVG check by Disclosure Scotland. All information given in this section and will be kept strictly private and confidential and only used for official purposes.
  • Under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 you are entitled to withhold information about any convictions against you which are now 'spent'.

  • Protecting Vulnerable Groups

    If you are progressed as a volunteer, you will be required to apply for a PVG Scheme Record (even if you already hold another role with SJS or with another organisation/company).
  • Our Patient Transport (protected adults), CPR (children), and Community First Responders (Protected adults and children – PVG conducted by Scottish Ambulance Service) Volunteering roles are classed as regulated work and you will be asked to complete a PVG scheme application. Disclosure Scotland manages these checks when you apply for the PVG. You can find out more about the PVG Scheme at the website www.mygov.scot/pvg-scheme
