Please note that you must have proof of a background check or a police clearance card (blue card) from Gainesville Police Department in order to volunteer. Additionally, you cannot volunteer at our facility if you have recently received or are currently receiving services from St. Francis House.

This is a simple and free process provided at the front desk of GPD in less than 5 minutes.

WHY DO I NEED TO DO THIS?

St. Francis House is a temporary shelter for women and families with children, and over half of our guests are kids and teens, therefore we require that anyone who interacts with our guests have a current background check on file.
