The Brooklyn Rescue Foster Application

Completing this application is the first step towards fostering a cat(s)/kitten(s), but does not guarantee that your application will be approved and is contingent on a video/in-person interview. Questions can be directed to our email thebkrescue@gmail.com. At this time we are only able to work with fosters in Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY. Applicants more than 2 miles away from Bed-Stuy OR Borough Park, Brooklyn, must be able to provide their own transportation.

Are you able to provide your own transportation if approved to foster?
As the rescue, we handle costs associated with vetting, and ask the foster to provide food and litter (we can recommend brands!) However, money should never be a barrier to fostering and we can also provide supplies if you absolutely need it!

I agree to not hold Brooklyn Rescue accountable for scratches or bites to me, my roommate(s), family member(s), resident pet(s), and/or any guests associated with my home
I understand that it is my responsibility to get my foster cat(s) ready for adoption—which includes promoting their adoption on social media and with family and friends, speaking to potential adopters, and providing information on the cat’s personality and behavior to help put together a compelling adoption profile for my foster cat(s). THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL FOR ALL FOSTERS
I guarantee that for as long as the foster cat(s) resides here ALL windows in my residence will remain closed and only windows with screens may be open less than 3 inches. I agree to take full financial responsibility for any injuries to my foster cat(s) that result from an open window.
I understand that I have to return the cat at the end of the foster period agreed upon AND when requested by the rescuer. I understand that I will need to pay an adoption fee if I choose to adopt my foster cat(s).
I understand that I am responsible for providing the necessary supplies (food, litter, litterbox, toys, treats, unconditional love, etc.) for my foster cat/kitten.
I understand that in the event of my foster cat being sick, I will reach out to Laila at Brooklyn Rescue right away.
I understand that unapproved vet visits, purchase of medication, grooming services, and other expenditures will not be covered by the rescue.
I understand I am required to send at least a weekly picture and video update. I understand that it is important to share pictures and videos of my foster cat(s) with The Brooklyn Rescue to promote their adoption placement.
I understand I am required to communicate with Brooklyn Rescue in a timely manner. I agree to stay in constant communication and respond to Slack/text messages daily if need be.
I agree to keep my foster cat(s)/kitten(s) indoor at all times and give them ample space to live comfortably. Other than the agreed upon quarantine protocol, I will not isolate them in any crates, cages, carriers, or confined spaces. I will not leave them outside my home for any amount of time.
As the rescue, we handle costs associated with vetting and ask the foster to provide food and litter (we can recommend brands!) However, money should never be a barrier to fostering and we will work with you!
I agree to properly clean and disinfect my living space (toys, bedding, food and water bowls, carriers, etc.) and anything used by one cat/kitten before it is used by another cat/kitten. I understand that cleaning and disinfecting are two separate procedures, and BOTH need to be done.
