    Thank you for applying to become a member of Artisans Cooperative! Becoming a member offers you additional benefits and responsibilities, including patronage dividends. This form will take about 15 minutes to complete. Our current marketplace ships to the US and Canada. Global sellers and supporters are welcome to join as members but are not yet able to open shop or purchase marketplace items due to International tax constraints. If you would like to help bring the marketplace to your region, please contact service@artisans.coop.

  • Tax Identification Number

    We require a tax identification number for legal compliance and future dividend income (profit sharing).
  • Individuals, or individuals representing a collective: Use your personal tax identification number.

    Businesses: Use the business tax identification number.

    Each membership must have a unique tax ID, but a single person may have two memberships if they have one under a personal tax ID, and another under a business tax ID.

  • Marketing Cooperation Permissions:

  • To promote your work and the co-op, we are asking for your special permission to market all our work together. This is entirely optional. With your permission, we will feature your business across the Co-op’s online platforms. Your permission also provides the Co-op with high quality handmade photos to help market Artisans Cooperative to potential Artisans and Supporters. Whenever possible we will provide photography credit and links to shops featured by tagging featured shops in the social post and sharing backlinks within posts. You may rescind this permission at any time by emailing hi@artisans.coop

  • An Artisan Member share costs $1,000 USD or 1,000 points and earns you benefits and responsibilities as part owner of the co-op. 

    Your membership investment can include a combination of cash buy-in and non-cash points. If you want to think through your combination of cash and points for your buy-in, you can follow this link to use a calculator tool to plan your payments and activities. You can also take a look at the types of Member Activities currently available on our current Member Activities Board.

    For cash buy-in, a variety of payment plans are available to pay the buy-in amount of $1,000 over time. If you pay the full buy-in with either cash or points before July 31, 2023, you will join our Founders Circle, which offers additional benefits. Information on the breakdown of payment plans is below. Cash helps the co-op with critical seed funds to pay for website development. You can select either monthly or annual payments. 

    If you elect to fund your share with non-cash points, you pledge to earn your investment with any combination of points within the next 12 months. This option requires a minimum cash buy-in of $10. Payment plans are not available for this option. You will be emailed a monthly progress report on points earned to date. 

    Both payment plans and pledged points will have full member rights and responsibilities during the payment period or pledge window.

  • A Supporter Member share costs $100 or 100 points and earns you benefits and responsibilities as part owner of the co-op.

    For cash buy-in, a 1-year payment plan is available, with paymens of $8.34 per month for 12 months. If you pay the full buy-in with cash before July 31, 2023, you will join our Founders Circle, which offers additional benefits.

  • Member Agreement

  • This Membership Agreement is made as of {date} between Artisans Cooperative Group, an Oregon cooperative corporation (the “Cooperative”) and the undersigned member (the “Member”). 

    The Member hereby applies for membership in the Cooperative by agreeing to purchase one share of membership stock of the {whichMember} class.

  • 1. Responsibilities of Membership. I understand that Membership and the rights of Membership are subject to the Cooperative’s Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Board Policies, as they may be amended from time to time. I agree to be bound by all such documents. I may access an up-to-date copy of the governing documents and policies at https://artisans.coop/policies-plans and may also receive a paper copy on request. 

    2. Restrictions on Transfer; Redemption. I understand Member shares are not transferable, except for a transfer back to the Cooperative; redemption rights are restricted in accordance with the Bylaws; and that failure to make payments hereby agreed may result in suspension of participation rights in the Cooperative and forfeiture of share purchase payments made.

    3. Risk Acknowledgement. I understand that, as with any start-up enterprise, Member equity is subject to risk, including the risk of loss. I understand and acknowledge that my entire investment is at risk of loss if the Cooperative is not financially successful. I understand that if the Cooperative cannot achieve its business plan, I not only may not receive any patronage dividends, but that I may also lose the amount I paid for my share of membership stock as well, for example if the Cooperative goes bankrupt. I acknowledge that Member equity is subordinate to all other debts of the Cooperative.

    4. Obligation to Update. I agree and acknowledge that it is my responsibility to provide updated contact information to the Cooperative whenever any of the contact information provided above changes. 

    5. Member’s Tax Responsibility. I understand that if the Cooperative distributes a patronage dividend to me and any part of the dividend is paid as a ‘qualified written notice of allocation’ (as defined in 26 U.S.C. § 1388), I promise to include that amount in my taxable income in the year in which the written notice of allocation is received, as provided in 26 U.S.C. § 1385(a).

    6. Termination of Membership. I acknowledge that my membership can be terminated in any of the ways identified in the Board’s policy on termination. 

    7. Electronic Notice. I consent to electronic notice for all purposes, including notice of meetings, at the email address specified above. Per Section 4 of this Membership Agreement, it is my responsibility to inform the Cooperative if my email address changes. 

    8. Amendments. This Membership Agreement may only be amended by a written document duly executed by all parties.
