First Holy Communion Preparation Induction Course 2023 - 2024 (Induction course for children who are attending non-Catholic Primary School or children whose parent / responsible carer is yet to be baptised in Catholic faith)
Dear Parents / Carers,

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child to our First Holy Communion Preparation Induction Course 2023-2024.

This course is for children who;
- are attending Non- Catholic school,
- will move up to Year 2 or older in September 2023,
- and/or your responsible parent/carer is yet to be batised in Catholic faith
If your child does not meet the above criteria, pleaese contact Parish Office (elthamcommunion@rcaos.org.uk) for guidance.

This course will start on 30th September 2023 and pause on 7th July 2024 before children will continue on their 2nd year of learning.

The children who attends this 6-month course will receive their First Holy Communion during one Sunday Mass between the end of April 2024 and throughout May 2024.

Please read below before starting to fill this form:
1. Baptism Certificate: You will be asked to upload a copy of your child's baptims certificate as you progress with this online form. If your child needs to be baptised before/during this course, please state your plan.
2. Missing Certificate: If your child was baptised at Christchurch, and you are unable to locate the original Baptism Certificate, the Parish Office will assist you to re-issue a certificate at the admin cost of £10 per certificate. Pleaes email the Parish Office (eltham@rcaos.org.uk) with your child's full name, DoB, and the date of Baptism inculded.
3. Course Fee: the cost to enrol your child to the course for the 1st year is £30. These funds will be spent on course books, hire of the hall facilities and all background works that are reqired to have the course run smoothly.

PLEASE READ THROUGH THE BELOW AND SIGN TO CONSENT.

I / WE wish to enrol my/our child in the preparation programme for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation and consent to my/our child attending catechetical sessions at Christchurch.

CHRISTCHURCH PARISH (Priests, Parish Catechists, Parish Office);
- Will help your child to understand the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation using the books selected by the Parish Priest;
- Will guide and support parents as they contemplate their Faith while working with their child;
- Will provide a safe physical/emotional environment for your child;
- Will include and treat equally children of all abilities.
PARENT(S) / GUARDIAN(S) and CHILD
- Will commit to support and encourage their child to work on the books provided before and after each session
- Will commit to participating in the preparation programme by bringing their child to all the catechetical sessions;
- Will commit to arrive and collect children at the times agreed for the catechetical sessions and at the Celebration Masses;
- Will make the parish catechist aware of any special needs of the child - bearing in mind the length of the catechetical sessions;
- Each child will have respect for the children in his/her group and for the catechist;
- Each child will come to the sessions with the catechist understanding that they are there to learn more about Jesus in the Sacraments;
- Will commit to contact our Safeguarding Representative Team or the Parish Office as soon as any concerns arises in relation to the course setting.
