    Packing & Delivering

  • Thank you for your commitment to fighting hunger in our community. This sign-up form is for all of our June Food Distribution volunteer opportunities, including packing boxes of food and delivering them to community members in need.

     

    IMPORTANT: JRA is in the process of rolling out a new volunteer registration and portal system. As we are in-between systems this month, we ask that you use this form to register. We will phase this process out in the coming months! Additionally, as of April, JRA now requires volunteers to sign a "Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability." Volunteers under 18 will need a parent or guardian's signature to participate. Volunteers need only complete this one time. If this is your first time volunteering or have not volunteered since before April 2023, you will receive information on how to create your Volunteer Profile and sign the digital waiver. 

    The schedule for the June Food Distribution is below. Please note, there will be no produce packing this month. 

    Weekday Food Packing Shifts (June 8th and 9th) - Registration Open for All Volunteers

     Thursday, June 8th

     10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    		 Volunteers will assist with box taping, assembling toiletry bags, and packing food boxes. 
     Friday, June 9th  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Volunteers will assist with box taping and packing food boxes. 

     

    Distribution Sunday (June 11th) 

     JRA Juniors  9:00 AM - 10:00 AM A reserved hour for families with kids ages 10 and under. 
     All Ages Packing  10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

    After you're done packing, head out to deliver! You can also sign up to deliver only.

    Please remember to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. 

    Box packing and delivery route pick-ups take place at our Northeast Philadelphia warehouse, located at 10980 Dutton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.

  • Yellow Capper Sign-Up

  • We will do our best to assign you to a role you most enjoy, but we may ask you to jump into a new or different role if necessary. We will need Yellow Cappers both inside the warehouse and outside in the loading area. 

    Below is a sample list of roles for Yellow Cappers. This list is, of course, subject to change.

    • Line monitor
    • Restocking
    • Box taper
    • Box closer
    • Pallet mover
    • Trash breakdown
    • Assigned to stations to pass out food
    • Box loader outside 
    • Outside runner

    Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes.

  • Volunteer Opportunity Date Selection

    If you would like to volunteer on more than one day, please resubmit the form for each day.

  • Volunteer Shifts on Sunday, June 11th

  • Delivery Route Selection

  • Using the list of delivery routes below, please select the route(s) you are committing to deliver.

    • Please note (Fresh Produce): This month, some routes will contain fresh produce boxes for families with children. If you select a delivery route with produce boxes, you will need to deliver it immediately after picking it up from the warehouse. Additionally, please keep your car size in mind when selecting multiple routes with produce boxes. 
    • If you are a first-time volunteer, we recommend choosing a route or a combination of routes, totaling no more than 10 food boxes.
    • Due to the size of our delivery routes, only up to 3 routes may be selected per submission. 
    • How many boxes can I fit? On average, a cleared-out sedan can hold about 8 JRA boxes in the trunk and another in the backseat; a cleared-out SUV/Van with all of the seats down can hold about 25 boxes.
    • If you would like to deliver on multiple days, please resubmit the form. 
    • Apartment designation: You will also see Apartment Building and Garden-Style Complex listed in the routes below. An apartment Building means it's one building with multiple units inside. Garden-style means there are multiple buildings on the property with multiple units inside each building. Volunteers who choose to deliver at any of these buildings will be asked to enter the building and drop boxes off at individual units. This is crucial as many of our seniors cannot easily climb stairs or carry the food boxes down hallways.

  • IMPORTANT: JRA notifies its recipients which day their food boxes will arrive based on the volunteer's pick-up date. Please plan to deliver on the same day that you pick up from the warehouse. If you need to make special arrangements or if your plans change, please email jra@jewishrelief.org as soon as possible.
