This is a senior service project for a New Century Technology High engineer student. The purpose is to introduce 2nd and 3rd graders to the engineering process through hands-on STEM activities. Each class, your student will be given a differemt challenge and the opportunity to brain storm, design, test, and reflect on their creative solutions.

Supplies are all provided thanks to our community sponsor Iroh Industries.

Classes are from 1:30-3:00PM in the Community Room at the North Huntsville Public Library located at 3011 Sparkman Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35810.

Parents are asked to stay on library premises.

Class descriptions:

Ahoy Matey
Scope: Build a boat out of household items.
Mission: 1.) Must Float 2. Must be able to hold at least 10 pennies at most 30 pennies.

4th Little Piggy
Scope: Build a house (floor, 4 walls, 1 roof) out of household items.
Mission: 1.) Must be able to stand up to being moved. 2.) Must be able to withstand winds from "wolf" for 10 seconds from winds at least on low setting and at most on high setting.

Grate Escape
Scope: Build a long arm that can reach in a small and deep space to reteive dropped items using only household items.
Mission: 1.) Must be able to retrive at least one item that has fallen down into a grate within 2 minutes.

Save Humpty
Scope: Build a soft landing or parachute device from household items.
Mission: Must keep an empty egg from shattering from a 4-5 foot drop.
