*The following information is based on having enough families join in! We will notify you by July if enough parents have joined the cooperative for your area.
Welcome to the Stars & Stripes Cooperative! This year we are delving into the 28 Principles of Liberty outlined by Cleon Skousen in his book The 5000 Year Leap. We are a patriotic group that uses open and go history and philosophy units based on the founding principles of this country. Through the modes of Creative Writing/ Reading, Arts & Crafts, and History/ Music our children will explore American foundational truths together.
Our co-op is excited to announce we will be meeting twice a week this year, with an added optional day to our schedule. We are in search of a building in the Carbon County area, preferably a church, that can host 30 families once a week for 3 hours. If you have any connections, ideas or links please email Britney at starsandstripesco.op@gmail.com to let her know. One day a week we will have 'group meetups' for the kids to socialize and eat lunch together. Location for the 'group meetups' will vary. Classes will be held on a seperate day for 3 hours and will be indoors at the same location weekly. Ages for the co-op are 5-18, but a pre-school class is provided for younger siblings. Mothers with infants or toddlers in diapers will need to change their own child's diapers. All mothers who have toddlers and infants in the preK class are encouraged to be in the room with their child when not teaching another class's lesson.
Every parent is an educator in our cooperative, meaning every parent will join with 2 or more parents in instructing classes. Parents will rotate weeks that they teach, so you will not be instructing back to back weeks. If you have a preference of which age group you prefer or which subject to teach, we will certainly work with you! This arrangment has proven to be highly effective for a team building mentality in the co-op. Along with a teaching assignment, every parent will be given a role in the administrative side of the co-op such as 'presentation planner', 'field trip planner', 'recess mom', 'hall-monitor 1st hour', etc. These will be divvied out at our orientation meeting soon to come!
Our curriculum and weekly lessons are all age-based and pre-planned. They will be made available on our website coming this June! The curriculum we use will be labeled on our site as 'Lesson Guides' and will cost each family a total of $70 for the year. This is the open-and-go material we will teach from for this 2023-2024 season. The Lesson Guides come with the family homework links based on the weekly lesson for futher study; these are labeled as 'Foundations' on your Lesson Guide. Additionally, your Lesson Guide will include links to each week's 'Group Presentation' that will be given at the start of each co-op Friday session. These presentations highlight the Constitutional principle taught for the week in a more comprehensive, interactive way! Having the links to the 'Presentations' and 'Foundations' beforehand will help you dive deeper into family study of these principles at home.
Tuition payments will be made at the beginning of each semester (4 month term). These payments cover rent of the building, arts and crafts fees, and the hard costs of covering the operation of the co-op. Each family joining the co-op is committing to 2 full terms at Stars & Stripes. The cost of tuition is $20 per student per month including Pre-K students. By singing at the bottom of this form, you are committing your family to joining the Stars & Stripes co-op for a full scholastic year, Sept. 2023- April 2024. Families who drop before April 2024 will not be permitted acceptance for the following years. They will also pay a $50 midyear drop fee, and be held accountable to that by signing this Jotform contract. No refunds will be made available. Full year commitments help us to build community and gain strong relationships for years to come!
Our parent orientation meeting will take place in July where we will accept first semester payments, go over parent roles, and review other co-op details. After the first semester payment has been made, you have come to orientation, and you have purchased the curriculum then your family's spot will be secured for the year. *Our application period runs through the summer or until filled.*

Looking forward to seeing your family on the weekly to strengthen our youth in Constitutional footings. We are raising the next leaders of America and the calling is on us. In God we trust!
