  • Minor Course Requirements

  • There are 6 required courses for the Biology Minor:

    • Biology Intro Course
    • Genetics Course
    • Programming Course
    • Biostatistics Course
    • 2 Computational Biology Elective Courses

For each category, select the course that you have completed or plan to complete to satisfy the major requirements. Each column should have a response. If planning to complete, please note when you are planning on taking the course. Be aware of the following:

    • Transfer Credit: Must be approved before taking courses elsewhere. Includes biology and ancillary requirements.
    • Courses with S/F Grades: Cannot apply S/F to major. Includes biology and ancillary requirements.
    • Schedule Changes: All schedules are tentative; however, students should keep advisors aware and up-to-date on changes.
    • BIO GPA Minimum: 2.00 or better is needed to maintain the major. Only BIOL coursework grades are calculated. Does not include grades from ancillary courses.

    Letter Grade Points of Credit
    A 4.0
    A- 3.7
    B+ 3.3
    B 3.0
    B- 2.7
    C+ 2.3
    C 2.0
    C- 1.7
    D+ 1.3
    D 1.0
    D- 0.7
    E 0

Points for a course are calculated by the points of credit (numeric value for each letter grade) multiplied by the number of credits for the course. E.g. Receiving an A (4.0 points of credit) for a 4 credit course = 4 x 4 = 16 points for course.

The point-hour ratio (cumulative grade point average) is calculated by dividing the total number of points earned by the total number of hours (excluding transfer credits, AP credits, or credits earned with a grade of CR) for which the student has received final grades, whether passing or failing. Grades of S, F, and P do not affect this ratio.
