Our goal is to contribute to local organizations from the Key Biscayne Community.
  • About Us:

In 1951, a group of farsighted women got together in Key Biscayne. At that time, Key Biscayne, as an island, was separated from the mainland by a long tollway causeway. Communication was difficult because there was no telephone service on the island.

In order to establish camaraderie, the women gathered around purposeful fundraising activities that would service the community. After a successful fashion show in January 1952, they had a profit of $120. The following March, they drafted articles of association for a new organization, The Key Biscayne Women's Club. The club was established with Muriel Curtis as the first president.

Since 1952, the club has awarded scholarships to over 170 recipients. The club is proud of the many scholarship recipients who have made worthwhile and successful lives in a variety of professions and occupations. One of our scholarship recipients became a lady Admiral in the US Navy. Others are playing important roles in finance, healthcare and other business fields. Still others are engaged in charity work and education.

Some of them still live in Key Biscayne or have families here. They speak fondly of the support given to them by the Women's Club when they were young, going to college, and the financial assistance that was awarded.
