Band Dues/Commitment Fee
Required for ALL students in the band program is
$150 for Instrumentalists (plus cost of boots you must purchase yourself) and
$65 for Hawkettes (Dance and Color Guard)
This covers expenses including but not limited to: staff, guest clinicians/instructors, music for all ensembles, student T-Shirt, transportation, festival fees, awards, senior banquet fees, props for marching season, and operating costs for the band program for the entire year. Travel and Pre-Event meals will be funded by individual students and fundraising.
The goal for our program is to have all fees paid by the end of September so as not to have parents worry about end-of-year debt issues with the school. Please visit the band website (often) at www.hhsmarchinghawks.com to make payments.
What is Fair Share?
Each of us must do our “fair share” if the band is to travel and purchase necessary equipment. It is not fair for a few to work or pay the way for all. Each band member is expected to do his or her “Fair Share” of the fundraising with a minimum required fundraising of $50 per most fundraisers.
In lieu of, or in addition to, fundraising participation, tax-deductable donations are always accepted and can be made via our online donation form.
Fundraising "Fair Share" will help to cover budgeted items not covered by band dues such as instruments, repairs, travel, repairs, marching and auxiliary equipment, transportation, student awards, etc. Students will not be individually assessed for band trips with the exception of “Special Event” trips. The student’s Band Dues requirement will cover all regular expenses.
Ample fundraising opportunities will be provided for students and their families to offset the cost of special trips and events.
Fundraising profits will be not be applied to the individual student, but rather applied to the general band account as required by law, unless specified as a 'squad' (band, Color Guard, Dance) fundraiser and may also be used in one of the following ways:
· To be used for future BAND-related expenses.
· To assist a needy student.
· For the general fund.
These funds roll over from year-to-year and stay in the squads MCSD Activity account.
Nobody wants to penalize or exclude students who have financial hardships. If there is a financial hardship, please contact the Director and explain the circumstance. Most times, there are ways to help and the band administration and staff is very understanding to the economic issues of today.
