Expenses can often add up to hundreds of dollars each year. Are you able to provide veterinary care, grooming, emergency care, supplies and food for the lifetime of this pet?*

Physical alterations on a pet that are not medically necessary such as declawing, tail docking and ear clipping are deemed by our organization as cruel and are not allowed on pets coming from our program. Do you understand and agree with this policy?

All pets making the transition from shelter to a new home need time to adjust and may require housetraining and behavior training. Are you willing to provide any needed training?*

What reasons might cause you to return this pet?

Because so many shelter pets have unknown histories, an introduction period is recommended if you have other pets at home. Are you able to separate this new pet from your other pets?*

Sterilization/Vaccination - All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and vaccinated prior to finalizing adoption. For some their surgery may be recent or happen while in your household if you are fostering. During those cases, special care must be given to keep the surgical area clean and dry while they recover.Fourteen-Day Trial Period - All pet adoptions are given a fourteen (14) day trial period during which time ARK will continue to be responsible for any medical issues that manifest or you may return the pet and either reset the trial period with a different pet or receive a refund check. (No Cash Refunds) After 14 days, the fee becomes a donation but we will always accept our pets back. ARK pets should NEVER be released to another party or to Animal Control.All Current Pets Must be Vetted - All pets currently in your home must be fully vaccinated and sterilized before any ARK pet will be considered for placement.Introduction Period - We strongly advise you to keep your newly adopted pet separated from your existing pets while conducting a slow introduction. While decompressing in a new environment, pet behaviors may not be easily predicted.Caretaker Agreement - As the new temporary or permanent caretaker, you agree to take full responsibility for the care and well-being of this pet while in your home. For adoptions, you will be responsible for all medical bills and decisions regarding this pet.
