2023-2024 Board Member Code of Ethics

As a leader who helps to promote excellence in the profession of school counseling, it is my ethical responsibility to see to it that the work of my school counseling association board meets standards and goals that result in significant progress for the profession in my state. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that board meetings operate as efficiently as possible. To not do so will only hinder the collective work to advance the profession of school counseling.

The man behind Policy Governance, John Carver states:

“Board meetings should be about the powerful and creative job of strategic leadership. They are not about running the organization but about what the organization should be running toward-not about what the organization does so much as what it is for."

Please read the following statements and enter your initials below each one to indicate your agreement.

As a fully responsible and participating member of the leadership of my school counseling association, I will demonstrate my commitment to the association and the profession by agreeing to the following:

1. I will abide by the laws and policies that govern the association.*

3. I will contribute to the committee's Action Plan to move AzSCA forward with serving Arizona School Counselors.*

As a member of the Arizona School Counselors Association, I shall not:

11. Speak or act for the Board without proper authorization.*
