Historic Loan Program

How it works:

The Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation's (SAHP) Historic Loan Program (HLP) offers affordable home repair loans for exterior renovation of historic homes. Flexible underwriting practices allow us to make loan funds available to homeowners who might not otherwise qualify for traditional bank lending, including retirees and those of low to moderate incomes.

Our loans are coupled with hands-on homeowner support to ensure affordable, quality repairs are completed in accordance with preservation standards.

Once an intake application is submitted, a free cost estimate is done with one of our Project Coordinators. We work with you to keep the scope of work and costs down, and then design a loan that meets your unique needs. Your Project Coordinator stays with you through the entire process to make sure you are able to select contractors you are comfortable with, and that the job is done properly. Loan funds are escrowed and paid directly to the contractor, taking the burden off of the homeowner to ensure the work is completed on time, to specification, and on budget.

Start Here:

Please answer a few brief questions to provide us with some basic information. As a final step, you will be directed to complete a prequalification form on a separate, secure platform. If you prefer to handle that process in person, a member of our team will be happy to reach out by phone to obtain some of the more sensitive information required for us to be able to determine loan eligibility. You can be prepared to answer questions about your income and expenses, including mortgages and other loans.

The prequalification performs only a "soft pull" on your credit. This will not impact your credit score. We won't pull a full credit report ("hard pull") until after you have decided to move forward with a full understanding of the scope of work to be done and the loan amount necessary. This way there is no impact on your credit until you have the information you need to decide if we are a good fit.
