I hereby authorize the Newark Public Schools of Newark, N.J. to deduct from my earnings and remit to the Newark Teachers Union an amount sufficient to provide for regular payment of the membership dues as are now or may hereafter be fixed by the by-laws of the NTU, in equal payments over the remainder of this school year and for succeeding school years. I understand that the Newark Public Schools will discontinue dues deductions only if I notify the Newark Teachers Union in writing. Once official written notice has been received by the NTU, dues deductions will cease on July first or within ten days of the anniversary of their hire date in the current school year. I hereby waive all rights to any claim for said monies so deducted and transmitted in accordance with this authorization and relieve the Newark Public Schools and all its officers from liability, therefore. Dues paid to Newark Teachers Union, Local 481 may not be deducted for federal income tax purposes; however, under limited circumstances, dues may qualify as a business expense.
