I generally recommend limiting the number of extended family photos (aunts, cousins, etc) taken during family formal photos to no more than 1 for each family (IE 1 group for the bride's family, 1 group for the groom's family) and having additional extended family photos taken more casually during cocktail hour or at your reception.
