Please sign this petition to indicate your support for the establishment of a Pittsford Central School District Sustainability Committee.
The Pittsford Central School District maintains 1.3 million square feet across 11 buildings, has over 1000 employees and 5700 students, and manages 205 acres of land. As such, the district’s impact on the environment is significant.
Although many PCSD personnel are concerned about environmental sustainability and try to make decisions that benefit the environment, there is no coordinating body supporting them to systematically prioritize sustainability, including the enactment of projects to save on future energy costs.
We are asking our neighbors to sign a petition to encourage the PCSD Board of Education to establish a District Sustainability Committee that would help the district prepare for an altered climate as well as identify policies and practices that would help ensure Pittsford students have a healthier and more sustainable future.
A District Sustainability Committee composed of students, administrators, member(s) of the Board of Education, educators, and Pittsford community members and parents with expertise on these issues could identify priorities and oversee various initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of our schools.
