Understanding the Family Promise HCR Rotational Shelter Program
At Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region, our rotational shelter program is designed to help families transition from homelessness to housing through a structured, compassionate approach. This program includes intensive case management and access to mental health services, all tailored to support your family’s unique needs and long-term stability.
How the Program Works
Daytime: During the day, all guests stay at the Family Promise Day Center located in Camp Hill. Here, you’ll have access to case management, laundry facilities, internet access, and other essential support services.
Evening Shelter: Starting at 6:00 PM, guests are transported to a local host site (such as a church or community center), where volunteers provide dinner and overnight accommodations in a safe, welcoming environment.
Morning Routine: Around 6:00 AM, guests are transported back to the Day Center to start their day—whether it involves working, job hunting, attending appointments, or working on program goals.
Program Length
This program is designed to be short-term, typically lasting 60 to 90 days. Because of this limited timeframe, our case manager will work closely with you to set realistic, actionable goals that help pave the way toward permanent housing.
Common Goals Include:
Securing market-rate housing
Credit counseling and repair
Building and following a budget
Employment support
Addressing any additional needs or goals your family identifies
What Are Your Goals?
We encourage you to think about what you want to accomplish in the next 60 to 90 days. Our team is here to walk alongside you—supporting you every step of the way.
