  • SWIFT aims to support viable and reputable organisations with projects/ activities that benefit the South Waikato district and community with a focus on the below areas:

    • Supporting the delivery of educational and training opportunities for the people of the South Waikato District to enable them to enter the workforce and;
    • Supporting the delivery/enhancement of community infrastructure that encourages business/investment and/or the quality of life of South Waikato residents

    Requirements for grant requests are as follows:

    • Grant applicants must be Charitable Organisations in or serving the South Waikato.
    • SWIFT will fund no more than 70% of the total project cost. 
    • The remaining 30% contribution can be from other funding providers and/or measurable cash-in-kind. 
    • The minimum grant amount is $25,000 to ensure large-scale impact projects. The return on investment is required to match the quantum of the funding request.
    • Grant applications must showcase an understanding of long-term planning and recognise community outcomes rather than simply focusing on deliverables or outputs.
    • Evaluation measures must be identified and reported on annually.
    • Applicants must show the ability to collaborate with others and recognise partnership opportunities.

    The annual grant round will be open from 3rd July - 4th September 2023.

    • Requests must be for activities or projects occuring in the 2024 calendar year and once allocation decisions are made there will be two pay out rounds - January and July. This will depend on a project start date and by negotiation with the successful applicant.
    • Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 29th September 2023.
    • An invoice will need to be presented for payment to SWIFT by the applicant prior to the pay-out dates.
    • Accountability reports will be required within six months of receiving funds.

    Community Grant Workshop

    Community Waikato will be holding a Free Funding Workshop on 30th August 2023 9.30am to 11.30am at the South Waikato Event Centre. 

    Topics include: funding tips, planning and preparation, what makes a successful application, budgeting, accountability, reporting, how decisions are made, and alternative income sources.

    SWIFT will also be in attendance to assist those who need clarity on their application if need be.

    • quotes, feasibility reports, business plan, budgets, project KPI's, information on existing programmes or services to support grant request.
    • a copy of your organisation's latest annual financial statements (preferably audited where available).
    • any other supporting documentation.
