  • Learning Workplace Award Eligibility

Throughout Canada there are many organizations which understand the relationship between a highly skilled workforce and economic productivity. They demonstrate leadership through their commitment to the development of their employees. To recognize and celebrate the efforts of employers who invest in lifelong learning, LLC is proud to present the Workplace Learning Award.

There are 8 factors which have the greatest impact on your organization being a learning organization. When these factors are leveraged, the organization will be a leader in their approach to organizational change and challenge.

We believe that there is a direct connection between profitability of a Workplace and the learning that it empowers in its employees.

We believe that Workplaces that designate at least 1% of its gross annual income to learning for employees in their workplace will be profitable.

We believe a Learning Canada is built on Learning Workplaces.

  • The 8 factors that define a Learning Workplace are:

    1. A culture of purposeful learning from organizational challenges, mistakes and problems
    2. Clear objectives for all purposeful learning
    3. Learning and external evaluations that are measured against the objectives
    4. Appropriate level of instruction in learning delivery.
    5. Appropriate use of technology in content delivery.
    6. Learner engagement through planning and tracking of learning
    7. A balance of learning for the board of directors, employees, members and clients.
    8. Designation of at least 1% of gross annual revenue to support the organization’s employee learning.

There are 2 factors that will reliably predict excellence in organizational learning:

    1. Having a culture of learning that includes financial support for learning.
    2. Having clear objectives that link learning to the needs of learners.

When the above factors are leveraged, the organization will be a leader in their approach to organziational change and challenge. There will be employees and directors who demonstrate an understanding of their roles, rules and relationships with respect to governing and managing the organization. There will also be members and clients who meet the organization's requirments of successful learning.
