The Gateway Regional Arts Center (GRAC) in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, is hiring instructors for The Eastern Kentucky Academy for the Visual, Performing, and Literary Arts!
This will allow selected artists and facilitators to provide courses or workshops without upfront costs to the presenting artist(s) or facilitator(s). GRAC seeks artists who plan to deliver engaging, unique, and creative programming for the region. These activities should be entry-level-friendly for non-practicing artists.
GRAC Courses are 6-8 weeks, once a week, and have 1-3 hour class sessions with long-term educational goals. In-depth artistic skill development is the core focus alongside historical education of the medium. Courses allow for a comprehensive exploration of a medium. Example: 8-week pottery course, meeting once a week for 3 hours to learn how to use a pottery wheel.
GRAC Workshops are one-time class sessions that last 1-3 hours for one day. Project completion and short-term artistic skill development are the core focus. Workshops allow for quick and lighthearted exploration of a specific craft in any medium. Workshops may also be 1-3 consecutive days, should the medium require it. Example: 1-day workshop, 2-hour pottery class on a weekday where students learn how to make a mug.
Classes must be given during GRAC business hours: Tuesday-Friday 1pm-8pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. Class times vary due to other GRAC engagements, such as GRAC events and building rentals. GRAC Staff will work with you to confirm class dates/times.
