* Paper presentations should not exceed 15 minutes.
** Pre-formed paper sessions comprise 3 thematically related paper presentations; each paper should not exceed 15 minutes.
*** Discussion panels should be limited to 3-4 participants and the panel chair.
**** In a theory roundtable, an important theoretical reading selected in advance of the VICFA is discussed by attendees.
Unless stated otherwise, all VICFA 2023 presentations will be live. Participants whose connections are not stable or who would prefer not to present live may pre-record their presentations, which will be played back during their assigned session. Pre-recorded presentations will need to be delivered 2 weeks before the conference. (Please note that Q&A for these presentations will be live.)
For the Title of your proposal, if you propose:
For papers that combine various media (e.g. a comparative reading of the originals and adaptations of Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale etc.) or genres (e.g. something discussing an sf novel and a fantasy novel) or areas (e.g. paper on texts one of which is Anglophone and the other international), you can choose which division you would rather present in.
N.B. DHs may choose to redirect submissions to other divisions to form joint sessions/panels.

Crosslist your proposal as BIPOC interest
If your proposal is of BIPOC interest, you may crosslist it as BIPOC. You may also request to present in the Counter Space. If you are presenting in the Counter Space, you may designate your presentation as a Brave Space conversation. All these designations will be routed to the Counter Space Scheduler’s attention.
If you propose:
an individual paper, include the title of the paper and the abstract of 300-500 words with the working bibliography.
a pre-formed paper session, include the title of the session, name and professional affiliation of the session chair, names and professional affiliations of all presenters, and titles and abstracts of all papers--300-500 words each with the working bibliography.
an academic discussion panel, include the title of the panel, the panel description of 300-500 words, name and professional affiliation of the panel chair, and names and professional affiliations of all panelists.
a theory roundtable, include the title of the proposed theoretical reading.
