Select one paragraph from the following two groups of statements that best reflects your general approach to life.
Note: you may not agree completely with every word or statement in the paragraph you choose. The Enneagram QT is not a comprehensive inventory, simply a starting point for your inquiry. Pick the paragraph that comes closest to representing your philosophy and behavioral approach. Don't overthink this! Go with your gut.

I have typically been independent and assertive, meeting life head-on. I get involved, set my own priorities, and desire to make things happen. I'm not one to sit around too much—I want to accomplish something big and make an impact. I won't say I seek confrontations, but I won't let others push me around, either. I usually know what I want, and go after it. I like to work hard and I like to play hard.
I have been a fairly quiet person throughout life, and I am accustomed to being alone. I don't seek a great deal of attention, and I'm not one to come on too strong or assert myself in a forceful way. I'm not as competitive as a lot of people, nor do I prefer taking the lead. Some might say that I'm a bit of a dreamer—I have a very active imagination. I can be content without being active and involved.
I have usually been responsible and dedicated. I feel badly if I do not meet expectations or keep my commitments. I like for others to know that I am there for them, doing what I think is best on their behalf. It is not unusual for me to make great sacrifices for others, whether or not they know it. I am not good at taking care of myself. I can relax only after my responsibilities are met.

I have typically had a positive outlook on life and tend to believe that everything will work out just fine. It's easy for me to find something to be enthusiastic about and different ways to keep myself busy. I enjoy being with people and helping others find joy—I like to share my well-being with them. (I don't always feel wonderful, but I usually try not to let others see that side of me.) I have to admit, however, that this positive attitude has occasionally meant that I have postponed dealing with my own problems for too long.
I feel strongly about things—most people can see when I'm upset about something. I tend to be guarded with others; people may not see that I am sensitive on the inside. I want to know where I stand in relation to others and who and what I can trust. It's pretty easy for others to determine where they stand with me. When I am upset about something, I want others to respond and to get as worked up as I am. I know the rules, but I don't want anyone to tell me what to do. I want to decide for myself.
I am controlled and logical—I tend not to show my feelings or delve too deeply into them. I am efficient—even perfectionistic—and I prefer to work on my own. I try not to bring my emotions into problems or conflicts. Some might say I'm detached, even cold. I simply don't want emotions to get in the way of what is most important. I'm good at concealing my emotional responses, which comes in handy when I'm upset with others.
