The Altar America Project is a celebration of cross-cultural ancestor remembrance and an art exhibition.
The mission of the Altar America Project is to alter America for the better and we believe we can achieve this goal by bringing communities together through art, culture, and history.
The exhibition opens on October 25th, 2024 followed by a cultural celebration day on November 3rd. This exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery and Port Galleries at Art Works.
We are currently seeking proposals from artists who wish to create an altar in rememberance of a person, culture or community with whom the artist is connected. The aim is for the greater Richmond community to see these examples, and become inspired to engage in their own, culturally relevant acts of remembrance.
The deadline for proposals is September 6th, 2024. If your proposal is selected, we will contact you by September 10th, 2024 with further information.
