• Starlight Formal Ball Queen's Court Application

    The Lambda Omicron Chapter's Star Light Formal Ball is a truly special event that has supported deserving students for over 75 years. The event's proceeds are used to help students achieve their academic goals by providing financial assistance through scholarships. The scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement, and are awarded to students across Lambda Omicron's service area. Additionally, the Star Light Formal Ball is a celebration of the rich history of the Lambda Omicron Chapter, known as the "Foundation of the 12th District" of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
  • Please read the entire application carefully, answer all questions, and provide all requested documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Your responses should be typed. 

    This program is designed for African American young ladies who:

    • Are 18 - 22 years of age
    • Demonstrate excellence in academics, exemplary moral standards and active engagement in their local community
    • Will be second semester college Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors by September of the year the Starlight Ball takes place
    • Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
    • Have been nominated by a current member of the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated

     

    Selection Criteria

    Applications must include the following:

    • An essay (prompt provided below)
    • A short bio for press use and to be included in the Souvenir Book
    • Official college transcript
    • A summation of public service activities with brief descriptions of roles, responsibilities, and length of involvement
    • Headshot (JPEG format, plain background, business attire, not a group photo)
    • Letter of recommendation from the nominator emailed to starlightformalball@gmail.com

     

    Application and all materials must be submitted by September 15, 2023 12:00 AM PST.
